Congratulations to JD athlete, Calista, who was invited to participate in the Athletics Canada National Development Squad Camp for para-athletics. On Saturday, as a part of the camp,Calista competed in the Seventh Annual Boiling Point Track Classic at the Terry Fox Athletic Facility in Ottawa. In the 100m preliminary, Calista ran a personal best time of 16.33 to qualify for the final! Later that day, Calista competed against the world record holder in her class (T44) in the 100m finals.
Coach Hayleigh, who was in Ottawa with Calista reports that, “Calista finished both races with a smile on her face and congratulations for all of her competitors.” Hayleigh adds, “I’m really proud of how Calista handled herself at her first meet away from home, and against some tough international competition. She was motivated, friendly with her competitors, and kept a positive attitude all day, despite the 40 degree heat!!”
