Congratulations to the 4x100m relay team of John to Alex to Cole to Thomas, who have been selected as members of the Pacific Northwest team to compete at the North American Hershey Final in Hershey, Pennsylvania from 1st to 5th August. The team was selected based on their result at Hershey Provincials, which was submitted by Athletics Alberta to Hershey North America for consideration, along with all of the other performances from the Pacific North West provinces, territories, and states. Making this team is one of the most difficult achievements in youth track & field, as athletes from Alberta not only have to do well at the Alberta Provincial meet, they also have to beat out the best from British Columbia, the Yukon, Alaska, Washington State, Montana, Idaho and Oregon. Well done Cole, Alex, John and Thomas – this is a huge accomplishment.
Only eight athletes from Alberta have been chosen to travel to the meet:
- Jersey Stevenson: Girls 9/10-Standing Long Jump
- Jane Caulfield: Girls 11/12-Standing Long Jump
- Kayla Mostowich: Girls 13/14-1600m
- Chuba Hubbard: Boys 13/14-100m
- Traian (Alex) Oglinzanu: Boys 13/14 Relay
- John Zeng: Boys 13/14 Relay
- Cole Dunlop: Boys 13/14 Relay
- Thomas Huard: Boys 13/14 Relay
The boys will receive an all-expenses paid trip to Hershey, Pennsylvania to compete in the meet. Well doneJohn, Alex, Cole and Thomas. Representing CALTAF, your province, and the Northwest Region at an international meet is an outstanding achievement – you should be very proud of this accomplishment.
