Speed & Power-Throws-Jumps

Strong, Fast, and Successful

Coaches: Kim Cousins, Rachel Andres, Paul Sze, Alister McQueen

We believe when athletes work hard consistently, they will realize their goals. The Speed/Power/Throws/Jumps group strives to bring out the best in every athlete.

Each athlete will receive event-specific instruction and a training program that suits their particular level of athleticism. Through an encouraging, respectful, and positive culture, individual athletes find themselves growing as athletes and people in a team environment.

Our athletes have competed at the Provincial, National and Olympic levels. We train all year round. During the winter months, training and competition occurs indoors. There are opportunities to travel nationally and internationally for competitions depending on the level achieved by the athlete.

Training Days

We typically train three days per as a group (Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday) from October to March for the Indoor season, and April to July for the Outdoor season. Training sessions are held at MNP Centre, the University of Calgary, Glenmore track, and Foothills track. Athletes are often given independent training programs that are done outside of the group sessions and will support their strength, power and speed development.

Training Camp

For athletes who have demonstrated a commitment to continuous improvement and hard work, a training camp will occur in a warm-weather location during the spring. The purpose of this camp is to give athletes a jump start on the outdoor training and competition season. Training camp consists of multiple daily training sessions.

If you have more questions, please contact us. We encourage athletes to come out to our training session for a one-week free trial to ensure that the group, coaches, and training is a good fit. If you are interested, contact us and we can provide that information to you.
