AAClubTrophy (by Nicola Charlesworth)

Athletics Alberta presented their annual awards at a banquet in Edmonton, Saturday February 12th and CALTAF was front and centre. CALTAF won the Provincial Club Championship for the second time in three years. This award is based on success at all age levels at all provincial championships. This award belongs to all the athletes of CALTAF as their effort and hard work made it possible to win this award. Given the number of provincial medals that the CALTAF athletes won at the Provincial Championships for the relays and combined events the same weekend, CALTAF may be well on its way to defending the trophy for 2010-2011.

In addition Athletics Alberta recognized a number of individual athletes for their accomplishments last year. Austin Ost capped an excellent year by being awarded the Midget Male Athlete of the Year. Rees Goertzen (Pee Wee) and Gareth Hadfield (Junior) won the 2010 Cross Country Awards for their age class. Hanna Svensson won a Top Ten Award in in the Pee Wee Division while Emma Martin and Madelaine Yee won Top Ten Awards in the Bantam Division.

Congratulations to all on a great 2010 season!
