JD Results from the Jack Simpson Open

I would like to congratulate all of the JD athletes – Martin, Brent, Nathan, Patrick, Sean, Sahad, Addy, Harry, Ben, Matt, Claudia, Antha, Quinn, Siri, Anna, Delainy, Jill, Meghan, Sarah, Madelaine, Emma, Kate, Georgia, Mia, Marissa, Heather, Kiannah, Caitlin, Grace and Lauren – who participated in the Jack Simpson Open on Saturday. Among them, these 30 young athletes produced some outstanding results. Here are the highlights:

The bantam women – Emma, Kate, Georgia, Mia, Marissa, Heather, Kiannah, Caitlin, Grace and Lauren – continue to be the most vocal supporters of their CALTAF teammates, standing at the side of the track cheering for not only their JD teammates but also the CALTAF athletes from the Cheetahs, high school and university groups. This has not gone unnoticed by the senior CALTAF athletes, who have commented to me how much they appreciate the support. Well done ladies! Thank you for continuing to be so supportive of your teammates and such fine ambassadors for CALTAF.

The gutsiest performance of the meet came from bantam Caitlin who, despite a nasty fall near the finish line of the 150m, picked herself up and finished the race. Sporting several nasty scrapes that required treatment from the first aid staff,Caitlin went on to run an outstanding 1000m, where she finished 3rd of six athletes in 3:52.37s. Well done Caitlin! I was also very impressed with the positive attitude displayed by Siri. After tripping coming out of the blocks in the 60m and then being disqualified in the 300m, Siri ran a very determined and strong 3rd leg in the 4x200m relay, assuring her team of their first-place finish. Well done Siri!
