The deadline to register for the 2012 CALTAF Track Classic is May 30, 2012!
This year’s meet is going to be bigger and better than ever! Olympic Trials are just around the corner and a number of our Olympians and Olympic hopefuls are making their way to CALTAF to chase those standards. Noteworthy athletes currently competing include:- Jim Steacy – Hammer
- Heather Steacy – Hammer
- Liz Gleadle – Javelin
- Bryan Barnett – 200m
- Adrienne Power – 200m
- Hank Palmer – 100m
- Akeem Haynes – 100m
This year’s meet is the Official Qualifying Meet into the Donovan Bailey Invitational. Winners of the following events will earn a spot in the DBI on June 16 in Edmonton:
- Men’s 100m (Lane in NTL Section – winner of NTL section races in International Section)
- Women’s 100m
- Men’s 800m
- Women’s 800m
- Men’s 1500m (Top 3 to DBI)
- Women’s LJ (Top 3 to DBI)
The Top 5 Male and Female performances overall (based on IAAF scoring tables) will receive the following prizing:
- 1st $600
- 2nd $400
- 3rd $250
- 4th $250 Mizuno Gift Card
- 5th $150 Strides Gift Card
We are also bringing back our Fitterfirst Top Performance of the Meet award. Winners are chosen by a panel and largely based on performance. Open to all age categories. Winners will receive a $500 prize pack from Fitterfirst! Last year’s winners were Sage Watson (New Canadian Youth Record in 300mH) and Jim Steacy (73.42m in Hammer)
Last, but not least. Of course, the “Father’s Day” Run for Gold will take place on Sunday afternoon. An ounce of gold is worth quite a bit of money these days, so don’t miss out on the chance to WIN.
