Results from the CALTAF Relays meet

Congratulations to all of the JD athletes – Nicholas, Keegan, Rowan, Austin, Tyler, Matthew Springer, Eric, Scott, Alex McDuffie, Matthew Schalm, Jackson, Brent Stephen, Michael Bhatla, Alex Charlesworth, Nathan, Lockie, Sean, Katie, Lauren Garnett, Ellie, Maria, Jessica, Melissa, Bailey, Kendall, Antha, Kennedy, Lauren Fridman, Chase, Siri, Emily, Steph, Delainy, Dana, Anna, Emma Martin, Madelaine, Emma Chong and Heather who competed for their schools at the CALTAF Relays meet on Monday. Despite the windy and cold conditions, there were some outstanding results.

Congratulations to our medalists, who accumulated enough points from their events to place in the top three in their age categories. In the senior women’s category, Ellie captured the gold medal with 22 points, while Katie took the silver medal with 19 points. From amongst the intermediate women, Chase finished first and captured the gold medal with 23 points, Kendall won the silver medal with 20 points, and Lauren Fridman captured the bronze medal with 18 points. In the junior women’s category, CALTAF athletes swept the medals, with Emma Martincapturing the gold with an impressive 38 points, the highest point total of any athlete in the meet, Madelaine took the silver medal with 21 points, and Heather and Delainy tied for third and the bronze medal with 14 points.Matthew Schalm won the gold medal in the intermediate men’s category, finishing with 14 points, while Tylercaptured the silver medal with 10 points. In the junior men’s category, Sean captured the gold medal with 21 points, while Alex Charlesworth and Nathan each won silver medals with 20 points. Other top five finishers included:Nicholas (5th in senior men’s) and Michael (5th in junior men’s). Congratulations to you all. Well done! Once I receive the medals from Jolene, I will present them to you.

Emma Martin had an outstanding meet, winning three of the four events she entered. She won the junior women’s 600m in 1:55.58s, the 100m in 13.28s, the high jump, clearing 1.20m, and was 3rd in the junior women’s shot put with a throw of 6.40m. Well done Emma! A well deserved gold medal!

Ellie also had an outstanding meet, winning the senior women’s 600m in 1:56.95s and the 100m in 12.55s. Congratulations Ellie!

Alex Charlesworth also had an outstanding meet, winning the junior men’s 100m in 14.07s and the high jump, clearing 1.30m. Well done Alex!

Katie demonstrated her strength in the distance races by winning the senior women’s 3000m and placing second in the 600m in 1:58.01s. Well done Katie!

Chase won the intermediate women’s 3000m in 12:15.32s and placed 2nd in the 600m, finishing in 1:59.66s. Chasewas also 7th of 22 athletes in the 100m, where she finished in 13.84s. Well done Chase!

Lauren Fridman won the intermediate women’s high jump, clearing 1.35m, and finished 3rd in the 600m, where she finished in 2:02.18s. Well done Lauren!

Madelaine won the junior women’s shot put, with a throw of 7.67m, was 5th in the high jump, clearing 1.15m, and was 6th of 18 athletes in the 100m in 15.13s. Well done Madelaine!

Nicholas won the senior men’s 100m, finishing 1st of 15 athletes in 11.91s. Well done Nicholas!

Tyler won the intermediate men’s 100m, crossing the line in 11.92s. Congratulations Tyler!

Kendall, one of our newest athletes, also had an outstanding meet. Kendall finished 4th in the intermediate women’s high jump, 4th in the 600m, and 5th in the 100m, earning enough points to capture the silver medal for intermediate women. Well done Kendall!

Sean had an excellent, winning the junior men’s 600m in 2:15.69s and placing 3rd in the 100m in 15.23s. Well doneSean!

Emily was 2nd in the intermediate women’s high jump, clearing 1.30m, and 3rd in the 100m, finishing in 13.48s. Well done Emily!

Scott finished 3rd in the intermediate men’s 100m, finishing in 12.69s. Congratulations Scott!

Antha was 4th of twenty-two athletes in the intermediate women’s 100m, finishing in 13.72s, and was also 8th in the high jump. Congratulations Antha!

Nathan, another new athlete, recorded excellent results in all three of his events, accumulating enough points for the junior men’s silver medal. Nathan was 3rd in his first high jump competition, clearing 1.20m, 4th in the 100m and 6th in the shot put. Congratulations Nathan!

In her first throws competition, Siri won the intermediate women’s shot put with a throw of 7.47m. Siri also finished 7th in the 100m in 13.84s. Congratulations Siri!

In his very first meet, Matthew Schalm produced some excellent results, accumulating enough points to capture the gold medal for intermediate boys. Matthew was 3rd in the intermediate men’s shot put with a throw of 7.40m and 5th in the high jump, clearing 1.15m. Well done Matthew!

Keegan was 2nd of fifteen athletes in the senior men’s 100m, finishing in 12.03s. Congratulations Keegan!

Dana placed 2nd of eighteen junior women in the 100m, finishing in 14.25s. Congratulations Dana!

Maria was 3rd in the shot put, with a throw of 7.84m. It’s good to have you back Maria!

Anna placed 4th of eighteen junior women in the 100m, finishing in 14.84s and was 8th in the high jump and 9th in the shot put. Congratulations Anna!

Alex McDuffie was 5th in the intermediate men’s 100m in 12.98s, while Rowan was not far behind in 6th in 13.40s,Brent Stephen was 9th in 13.59s and Jackson was 10th in 14.93s Well done boys!

Matthew Springer was 3rd in the senior’s men’s high jump, clearing 1.45m, while teammate Austin was 4th, also clearing 1.45m but taking more attempts to clear the height. Well done Matthew and Austin!

Lockie was 2nd in the junior men’s 100m, finishing in 15.18s.

Michael was one of our busiest athletes, and did well in all of his events, finishing 4th in the junior men’s high jump, 6th in the 100m and 7th in the shot put. Congratulations Michael!

Eric was 4th in the intermediate men’s shot put with a throw of 5.42m. Well done Eric!

Delainy was 5th of ten athletes in the junior women’s 600m, finishing in 2:17.93s, and 6th in the shot put, with a throw of 5.70m.

Two of our youngest athletes, who were running up against older athletes, Emma Chong and Heather, both ran very well. In the junior women’s 100m, Heather finished 5th of eighteen athletes in 15.09s, while Emma was 6th in 15.13s. Heather also had an outstanding high jump competition, clearing 1.15m to finish 3rd of eight athletes. Well done Emma and Heather!

Melissa was 4th of twenty senior women in the 100m, finishing in 13.37s. In that same race, Jessica was 6th in 13.88s and Lauren Garnett was 11th. Lauren was also 8th in the high jump. Well done ladies!

In their very first meet, Kennedy and Bailey ran very well, finishing 11th and 12th respectively of twenty-two athletes in the intermediate women’s 100m. Well done Kennedy and Bailey!

In her first meet, Steph competed very well, running an impressive second leg for her team in the junior women’s 4x100m, helping the team to win the gold medal. Well done Steph!

Our relay teams also competed very well. The senior women’s team of Jessica to Ellie to Katie to Lauren Garnettfinished 1st of five teams in 58.05s. Our intermediate women’s team of Chase to Siri to Kendall to Anna finished 1st of seven teams in 59.56s. In that same race, the team of Emily to Antha to Kennedy to Dana finished 2nd1:01.67s, while the team of Emma Martin to Lauren Fridman to Bailey to Madelaine finished 5th in 1:03.10s. Our junior women’s team of Delainy to Steph to Emma Chong to Heather finished 1st of five teams in 1:06.07s. Our senior men’s team of Nicholas to Rowan to Matthew Springer to Keegan finished 2nd of three teams in 55.50s. Unfortunaelty our junior men’s team of Alex Charlesworth to Lockie to Sean to Nathan and our intermediate men’s team of Alex McDuffie to Brent Stephen to Jackson to Scott didn’t have any competition, but both teams ran very well, finishing in 1:03.40s and 1:07.92s respectively.
