Good News Letter #3

An update from Barb about some of the great work that people in Caltaf have been doing:

Caltaf has had a number of coaches named to Provincial and National Teams.  We would like to congratulate them and thank them for the commitment that they make to Track and Field in Calgary!!

  • Jason Lindsay - Head coach - 2010 Western Canadian Midget and Youth Track and Field Championship
  • Robin Barclay - Staff Coach - 2010 Western Canadian Midget and Youth Track and Field Championship
  • Derrick Johnston - Staff Coach - Legion Nationals
  • Nikki Barlow - Staff Coach - Team Calgary - Alberta Summer Games

The outdoor season has just begun and we have had a number of athletes make teams that are highly competitive.

  • Congratulations to all the High School athletes who made it to Provincials
  • Congratulations to the 21 athletes from Caltaf who have been named to the 2010 Alberta Summer Games Team.
  • Congratulations to Nicola Charlesworth for being chosen as Athlete of the Week for CTV - It was a great interview and well deserved!
  • Congratulations to Gareth Hadfield on the article in the Calgary Herald recognizing his success as a Track and Field athlete in Calgary.

I am excited to see that our sport is gaining a higher profile and I am thrilled to see how well our club is being represented both Provincially and Nationally.

Best of luck to all out athletes and coaches as the outdoor season continues!!

      Congratulations to CALTAF  (belatedly) on winning the Athletics Alberta Club of the Year award for 2011. This is the second time CALTAF has won the award. The last time was 2009 (which was also the first time the award was offered!). Thanks to Nicola Charlesworth for the above graphic!
