Good News Letter #2

An update from Barb about some of the great work that people in Caltaf have been doing:

Congratulations to Derrick Johhston, our Power/Speed coach on the completion of his Competition Development Level in coaching (this is equivalent to the NCCP Level 3 model).  Derrick traveled to Vancouver and Ottawa this year in order to take courses and then completed his other work at the University of Calgary.  Les Gramantik will complete the evaluation of Derrick in the next month and he has then invited Derrick to mentor with him this summer so that he can learn about the training strategies that Les utilizes as he trains Jessica Zelinka.  This is a great opportunity for Derrick as Jessica is an Olympian and Canada’s most accomplished multi-discipline female athlete.

The athletes in our club are very lucky to have accomplished coaches and we would like to thank Derrick for making the commitment to advance his coaching education!

Caltaf would like to welcome an accomplished athlete to our coaching staff.  Kim Tse has become a jumps coach with our JD program.  Kim has been a nationally ranked athlete for a number of years and brings a wealth of information and skill to both long jump and triple jump.  We are sorry that she will no longer be competing for Caltaf but we are thrilled that she will now be coaching our JD athletes.  Thanks for bringing your expertise to our club Kim.
