Caltaf results from Junior Nationals

Report from Junior Nationals:

This past weekend, three CALTAF juniors attended the National Junior Championships in Charlottetown, PEI. Mel Craig started the weekend off with a solid 61.5 second 400m heat. Unfortunately she did not qualify for a final. This was her first time to a National championship. Scott Ratlaff was next up and he was the 16th qualifier for the 400m finals. His next race was the the 400m final and he moved up one spot to place 15th overall. His best time of the two races came from his opening heat with a time of 50.80. Scott’s next race was the 800m heats. Unfortunately, the 4 hour turn-around from his 400m final hurt his chances and he did not advance to the 800m finals. The next day, Scott rebounded with the fastest leg on the men’s 4x 400m. His team captured a bronze medal in the branch division. Third up to compete was Holly Stockall. She just missed making the 1500 final by two places. This result inspired Holly to A terrific 4th place finish in the women’s 2000m steeplechase. This marked just the third time Holly has run the steeplechase and she matched her personal best that she set the previous week at the Canada Summer Games trials in Sherwood Park, Alberta.
