Caltaf results from Senior Nationals

Full results from Sr. Nationals available here. Besides Trent’s first place finish Tara Dressler also medaled with a third place finish in the 3000m steeplechase.

Christine reports:

This is Trent’s first Senior National title. He has always loved the 400m Hurdles but due to a nagging hip flexor problem, Trent steered away from this event over the past two years. Last year he worked on his 800 and this year he focused on the flat 400m trying to achieve the FISU standard. At Alberta Senior Provincials it was decided that Trent needed to find pleasure in his racing again and so without any specific training this year for the hurdles he jumped on to the starting line and finished first coming close to his former Personal Best. Trent and his coaches (Christine Laverty & Jason Lindsay) decided to have him enter both the 400 and 400 hurdles at Senior Natioanls. Trent qualified for the finals in both events but it was the Senior Title in his all-time favorite event that brought him the greatest pleasure.

Tara Dressler takes home the Bronze medal in the 3000m Steeplechase.

Tara, since returning from Campbell University two years ago has struggled to return to her old racing self. Tara won Alberta Provincials almost 30 seconds off her season best and was quite concerned heading off to Seniors. Her final preparations both technically and motivationally with her coaches (Christine & Jason) certainly paid off. Tara ran a seasonal best of 10:49.72.
